ESSA Schools
Bazuka Championship
Nottingham 25 November 2006 |
|
Three DPSC swimmers helped Ecclesbourne school to win their heat in
the ESSA schools “Bazuka” championship on Friday 25 November. Laura
Young, Ellie Taylor and Sasha Wisdish were joined by City of Derby
swimmer Fiona Donnelly to win their Junior Girls 4 * 50 freestyle in
a time of about 2:02 minutes. Sasha and Ellie were then joined by
Fiona and Belper Marlins swimmer Louise Griffiths and won the 4*50
medley in about 2:15 minutes.
The
event was well attended with teams from schools in Derbyshire, Lincolnshire,
Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire. There is another leg of the
Division’s competition being held in
Corby so the Divisional
results will not be known until mid December. The fastest 12 times
from all the 12 Divisions across the country will be invited to the
Finals in Harrogate in February.
Based on the times, they have a reasonable chance of being invited
to the finals (would have been about 6th in last year’s
finals), but we have to wait for all 12 Divisions to post their
results before the final positions are known.
