It is accredited every two years.

The Club is welcoming and friendly and has been in existence for many years. Originating in around 1959 as the swimming section of the Derby Baths Life-Saving and Swimming Club, the Club later changed its name to the Derby Baths Swimming Club. The current name, PHOENIX, was adopted in 1974 and has been in use since.

Please see the following information from Woodlands about access to the pool. "You may have noticed that there have been some considerable enhancements to our site security over the last few months. This work has included installation of new site perimeter fencing, CCTV installation and security gate work this work has culminated and we are now in a position to be going live. This work is vitally important to safeguard students, staff and of course our sports users.  As of Monday the 6th of May 2019 there will be some changes to how we control access when members of the public are onsite. All users will need to access the site by the main entry gates on Blenheim Drive whether this is by car or by foot. For any users accessing the site out of school hours for the Swimming pool, you will park in the car park located next to the Green Sports Hall complex and walk up the entry path directly in front of the Sports Hall building. The Green pedestrian gate will be closed but unlocked this will need to be pulled towards the customer to be opened, there is no need to use the intercom system outside of school hours. You will then be able to access the site as normal."
